![]() The music is not bad, with a mix of soothing and calming mellow electronic tracks that loop around. As is, this is a plain out arcade style release. Maybe the game could benefit from a co-op mode or even a leaderboard for competing against other players around the world. The visuals in Sparkle 2 EVO are great, with lots of colors and effects going off left and right – watching your creature grow pincers as you eat your way up the food chain is definitely enticing, but there’s something missing from the overall experience, and I can’t quite put my finger on it. ![]() Each color sets you up for being a herbivore, a carnivore or an omnivore, but this, unfortunately, has no impact on the game which is a bit weird. You will search the depths of a bacteria packed world in search of food, so you’ll need to ease your hunger with the various colorful amoeba around you. You can move around using the analog sticks, or you can use the touchscreen, but I wasn’t a fan of the touchscreen gameplay mechanics for this one since my fingers ended up blocking my view of the action. The theory is very similar for Sparkle 2 EVO, which is both a good thing or a bad thing since it gives us a game that is easy to understand but that might not offer the depth that you are looking for. Think of that Snake game some of you might have played way back when on an old black and white mobile phone, in which you started as a small being that can grow with every meal it has. You control a microorganism and have to evolve it by working your way up the food chain. ![]() Sparkle 2 EVO is a game in which you’re presented with an arcade experience in which you need to grow by eating bacteria. ![]()
